Francis Chan and the Heretical ‘Send 2019’ Event

Francis Chan has once again joined hands with the dangerous false teachers of the New Apostolic Reformation [NAR]. In his latest foray into apostasy, Chan will be a featured speaker at Lou Engle’s upcoming NAR-fest “The Send 2019” – set for Feb. 23, 2019 in Orlando, Fla. [see https://thesend.org/about/]

Chan will be speaking alongside Bethel’s Bill Johnson, IHOP’s Mike Bickle, YWAM’s Loren Cunningham, Heidi Baker, Todd White, Ben Fitzgerald, Daniel Kolenda, as well as Lou Engle.

Chan even does a video promotion of the Send 19:

The Send 2019 is sponsored by the aberrant ministries of Bethel Redding, IHOP, YWAM, TBN and others.

World Parliament Of Religions Promoting Paganism and Anti-Christian Radicalism

The seventh Parliament of the World’s Religions [POWR] is now in session in Toronto, and runs Nov. 1-7th, with its theme of “The Promise of Inclusion, the Power of Love: Pursuing Global Understanding, Reconciliation, and Change.” See: https://www.parliamentofreligions.org/parliament/2018-toronto/2018-toronto

The POWR appears to be one of the early building blocks of the modern New Age Movement – as well as of the ecumenical movement. The first POWR, in 1893, featured the occultist, and leader of the Theosophical Society, Annie Besant; as well as Swami Vivekananda – a key figure in the introduction of the eastern philosophies of Hinduism and Yoga to the Western world. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliament_of_the_World%27s_Religions

Karen Hamilton, co-chair of the Parliament’s Toronto hosting committee and former General Secretary of the Canadian Council of Churches, pointed to failure to take climate change seriously, attitudes toward women, and the ways religion “has been used to support genocide, wars, persecution and injustice.”

Indigenous people of Canada will participate in the opening ceremonies, and a “sacred fire” will burn throughout the event. POWR 2018 will be divided into tracks covering “The role and dignity of women in religion; countering war, hate and violence; climate change; indigenous peoples; youth; and working to achieve a more just, peaceful and sustainable world”.

The 2018 Speakers include: heretical leftist “Christian” activist Jim Wallis, who will give the opening speech; Buddhist “Dharma Master” Hsin Tao; Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur, President of Global Sikh Council; Dr. PL de Silva, of the International War-related Trauma & Humanitarian Intervention Trust; Swami Sarvapriyananda, Minister-in-Charge of The Vedanta Society; Ingrid Mattson, former head of The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and PhD scholar of Islamic Studies, expert in interfaith relations; Dr. Carol P. Christ , author of “Why Women Need the Goddess” co-founder of the “Goddess movement”. Listed in the “Voices of POWR” are:

An example of the pagan slant of the POWR is seen in the members of the “Indigenous Task Force“, and the leader Andtas Corban Arthen, who is the spiritual director of the EarthSpirit Community. Andras also lectures on the indigenous European pagan religions throughout the U.S. and abroad. See https://www.parliamentofreligions.org/content/pagan-response-parliament

One of the 12 “programs” of the POWR is “Faiths Against Hate”, which utilizes info from the radical leftist Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and states: “those who order and give meaning to their lives based upon supremacy are dangerous – dangerous to those who, in their eyes, are inferior or different, dangerous to the wider company in which they live, dangerous to their own religious, national, ethnic, and cultural entities, dangerous it turns out to themselves.”

And they state: ” The interfaith movements across the globe could provide a new resource for challenging the re-emergence of supremacy crusades… ” Note that this section of the POWR site links those who claim exclusivity in religious matters (i.e. Jesus’ words) to “supremacists”! and of course everyone know supremacists are very bad people, even “haters”. See also: https://www.parliamentofreligions.org/program/faiths-against-hate

Speaking of hate – the first comment posted in “Faiths Against Hate” states that the above article is: “All the more urgent in light of Jeanine Hill Fletcher’s recent book THE SIN OF WHITE SUPREMACY: CHRISTIANITY, RACISM, AND RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY IN AMERICA, in which she lays out how White Supremacy is rooted in Christian Supremacy. But as Hill-Fletcher also make clear, claims of Christian supremacy are rooted in the New Testament… their sacred texts themselves.. to truly carry out its program of anti-supremacy, [NOTE] *as you encourage, the individual traditions will have to confront, I think, the roots of supremacy in their own texts.”

God’s Word tells us: “The mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only [NOTE] *He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie…” – 2 Thessalonians 2:7-11

Brian Brodersen posts video by “Muslims around the world – The positive message” group

In July 2018, Calvary Chapel leader Brian Brodersen posted a video shared directly from the group ‘Muslims Around the World – The Positive Message’. The video is entitled “Pediatrician Shuts Down Leftists on Puberty Blockers.”

At the bottom of the post (see above screen capture) is a large print link to the Muslims Around the World – The Positive Message website – which as a Islamic proselytizing site – whose page banner (see below) proclaims (in big block letters) “Praise to Allah, who has removed us from sadness”.

The Islamic FB page indicates Brodersen shared the video directly from that page.

Questions: If Brodersen simply wanted to share a message about the facts on gender issues and ‘puberty blockers’, WHY choose one from an Islamic proselytizing site? HOW MANY people will Brodersen’s reckless post stumble?

If, let’s say, a Hindu cult had posted on some social issue Christians happen to agree with, should it therefore be shared by Christians – at the risk of exposing people to those doctrines? I hardly think so! So WHAT is Brodersen doing posting this?

UPDATE: On ‘Pastors Together’ and Holland Davis

Update on the ‘Pastor’s Together’ group – see: https://emergentwatch.com/2018/07/09/holland-davis-and-pastors-together-go-contemplative/

Rather than offering any explanation for the activities of the PT group, and particularly, their recent outing at a Catholic retreat – They have instead deleted the evidence – the entire album (39 photos) that they had posted of the ‘Pastors Together’ retreat at the ‘Prince of Peace’ Benedictine (contemplative) monastery on May 6, 2017. (See: https://www.facebook.com/pg/PastorsfellowshipOC/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10156581032822708  (Thankfully we have screen captures)

If there truly is no problem with their “retreat”, why has the documentation been deleted? What are they trying to cover up? Where is the accountability? Below is a screen capture of the photo album posted to the PT group’s Facebook on May 6, 2018

Rather than being held accountable to the church, instead Holland Davis has gone on the offensive and engaged in personal (‘straw man’) attacks – calling this reporter a liar and a slanderer. Exactly how posting screen captured image documentation taken from their own social media pages can possibly be “slander” or “lies” is never addressed.

In a message to me on 7/14, Holland says: “Mark… you’ve slandered me again. I pray the Lord shows you mercy for the lies you continue to propagate. You are of your Father the devil…” etc. I believe that if pastors have a problem with their activities being exposed, maybe their activities are the problem. My bible says to “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them!” – Ephesians 5:11

The above screen captured image of the invitation to the PT group’s 2014 retreat at the ‘Prince of Peace’ Catholic monastery shows the “Agenda” of the retreat includes “Silence, solitude” and “Practicing spiritual disciplines” – all indicative of contemplative mysticism.

To this day, no explanation has been given for the group’s ecumenical activities, and for events such as their 2014 retreat. This event featured a ‘Spiritual Formation’ seminar by Dr. Michael Bischof of Souleader Resources. http://www.souleader.org/leader-retreats

We saw the same diversionary ‘Straw man’ tactics after my 2016 post on the PT group. Intimidating or attacking me or my friends is simply a diversion to obscure facts that can’t be refuted. Accusing me of “slander” for posting screen captured primary source documentation is disingenuous to say the least. Until Holland, (and/ or the others) adequately publicly respond to the questions brought up in my articles, there is nothing to discuss with them.

Aside from the aforementioned, the original issue with the PT group was and remains the ecumenical compromise involved in the group. In my previous post I’d listed some of the churches involved. Why is Holland’s church and two other Calvary Chapels doing communal meals, prayer, worship, retreats, etc. with heretical and otherwise aberrant churches? Do they not understand that this lends legitimacy to these churches and may be stumbling many? Do they care? Here are screen captures of some of the questionable churches – at least two of which are involved with NAR doctrines and practices.

[Note: “PT” = Pastors Together – AKA Pastors Fellowship of South Orange County]

UPDATE On YWAM’s New Age ‘Alternatives Ministry’

Back on Feb. 22nd, I posted an expose’ of YWAM’s ‘Alternatives Ministry’, which just like Bethel Redding’s ‘Christ Alignment‘, purports to be an outreach to New Agers, and yet uses occultic/ New Age devices and practices.

The leader of YWAM’s New Age ‘Alternatives ministry‘ – Jari Koivu, revealed his aberrant beliefs in his June 2 FaceBook Post, wherein he says: “Revival and *transformation takes much more than what we’re used to… it takes LOVE…not only as a theological, theoretical concept. [NOTE] *NON-JUDGMENTAL, *INCLUSIVE love… [‘Love’] that is a higher level of spirituality than even signs, wonders and miracles. That is more transformative to people than around us than merely ‘being right’ about doctrine and dogma…”

For the original EW article see: https://emergentwatch.com/2018/02/22/ywams-occultic-new-age-alternatives-ministry/

Note that this so-called “love” is factually little more than unbiblical compromise and politically/ spiritually “correct” tolerance – a tolerance of  evil and forbidden practices. It is this counterfeit love – this emotional appeal, that is powering the ecumenical movement in it’s relentless push towards “unity” at the expense of biblical truth.  Along with Contemplative Mysticism, this ecumenical unity is foundational to the infrastructure of the Anti-Christ and his False Prophet.

“…this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” 1Jn. 4:3  “To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to *this word, it is because there is no light in them!” – Isa. 8:20

2Thes. 2 warns: The mystery of lawlessness is already at work.”, and that, “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie.” [V7, 9-11]

Holland Davis and ‘Pastors Together’ Go Contemplative?

As I reported in March 2016: From posts on their own social media pages – Calvary Chapel pastor Holland Davis (CC San Clemente) and his friends in the “Pastors Together” group appear to have been involved with ecumenical and contemplative activities for years now. > See https://emergentwatch.com/2016/03/26/pastors-together-together-in-ecumenical-apostasy/

Now, in a May 6, 2018 pic posted on Facebook page of the “Pastor’s Fellowship of South Orange County” [aka ‘Pastors Together’], Holland can be seen with Ron Sukut (Cornerstone San Clemente) and two other unidentified men, posing outside the Benedictine Catholic “Prince of Peace Abbey” in Oceanside, CA. > See photos https://www.facebook.com/pg/PastorsfellowshipOC/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10156581032822708

As I have documented, this is apparently an annual retreat for the ‘Pastors Together’ [PT] group, since at least 2014. Note that this is a Benedictine monastery devoted to contemplative practices – that is what they do there. At least one of these retreats was led by Dr. Michael Bischof, of  Souleader Resources [http://www.souleader.org/leader-retreats]. Souleader itself is a contemplative group that specializes in facilitating “Spiritual Formation” seminars.

In one of their adverts, ‘Prince of Peace’ Monastery says: “We are monks of Prince of Peace Abbey, a monastery of the Order of St. Benedict, in the Catholic Church. We seek and serve God IN OUR [NOTE] CONTEMPLATIVE HORARIUM of liturgical worship and personal prayer…”

WHY has the PT group chosen to hold their retreats at a Catholic monastery – even a Benedictine one – whose monks are specifically contemplative. If they wants a secluded, peaceful atmosphere, there are dozens of beautiful retreat centers in SoCal with much better accommodations – and free from the Catholic contemplative, Eucharistic influences. Again – if they are not involved with contemplative practices, why do a retreat at a contemplative Benedictine monastery? WHY was a contemplative facilitator [‘Souleader’] used?

Aside from many questionable social media posts promoting groups like Jesus Culture, Bethel Music and Hillsong, Holland went out of his way, with multiple posts, to promote NAR frontman Nick Hall and the NAR/ ecumenical “Together 2016” event.

The ‘Pastors Together’ ecumenical group meet regularly – at least monthly, for prayer luncheons. They also do occasional special events and nights of “worship and prayer”, ‘Easter Together’, etc.

Churches involved with “Pastors Together”:

Capo Beach Church [Hosts Chuck Jr. contemplative events]

Celebration Church San Juan Capistrano [NAR affiliate!]

Calvary Chapel San Clemente (Holland Davis)

Calvary Chapel Mission Viejo

Calvary Chapel Foothill Ranch

Cornerstone Church (Ron Sukut) – San Clemente

Heritage Church – San Clem. [they do ‘Sozo’, ‘Soaking’ prayer & hosts NAR events]

Saddleback San Clemente [Purpose Driven & Contemplative practices]

St. Michael’s [heretical] Charismatic Episcopal – San Clem.

St. Clement Catholic Church – San Clem.

Calvary Chapel’s Brodersen Praises Royal Wedding ‘Gospel Moment’

In a series of Twitter tweets on 5/19/2018, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa’s Brian Brodersen lifted up praises for  (Episcopal) Bishop Michael Curry, for his speech at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. Brodersen also retweeted a Sky News article on Curry and Archbishop Justin Welby. Brian even retweeted a post by Nicky Gumbel – head of the heretical Holy Trinity Brompton – home of the UK’s ‘Toronto Blessing’. Gumbel also is the head of the global contemplative ‘Alpha’ program.

Brian also retweeted a post by leftist media talking head Piers Morgan that praises Rev. Curry. BB’s posted at least 6 tweets related to Curry and the event.

Pastor Gabe Hughes, in his Junction City blog, analyses Rev. Curry speech and notes the insufficiencies in the message. He also notes: “Lest you think I’m being hyper-critical of Bishop Curry’s sermon… Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, (is) an Episcopal priest, is a gay-rights activist. Why else would Vanity Fair be so praising of him? Or the leftist Vox.com, who pointed out Curry’s liberation theology? Or the gay publication Pink News…”  [see https://pastorgabehughes.blogspot.com/2018/05/a-royal-wedding-not-royal-enough.html

Brodersen has established close ties with the COE and Gumbel’s HTB, partnering with them in his ‘Creation Fest’ outreach [UK]. I have reported on BB’s heretical affiliations for several years now.

UPDATE 9pm: Apparently this Rev. Curry is not only a gay rights activist, but a Black Liberation Theologist and proponent of the ‘Social‘ Gospel.  A FB friend sent this article to me: https://ashenden.org/2018/05/20/the-struggle-to-tell-the-truth-about-jesus-welby-curry-and-the-integrity-of-the-gospel/

Below is a pic of Curry from the article.
