About

My name is Mark Jefferies. I am a bible believing Christian of 30+ years. This blog/ website and the views expressed on it are mine. I represent no particular pastor, church, group or denomination. God has taught me to only follow men to the extent that they truly follow God’s Word. I have no interest is drawing away followers, in making money from this site, or in starting a church or religious group. My purpose here is – through research and extensive documentation – to bring to light issues in the church that need to be addressed, and try to protect God’s precious children from deception and exploitation and rescue those who have been taken captive by false teachers and false doctrines. This can be accomplished by the Spirit of God – awakening people and opening their eyes – by pointing them to the Word of God and to Christ Jesus, the risen Savior.

Emergent Watch is dedicated to exposing the errors and the dangers posed by false teachers, and those within the “Emerging Church“, “New Apostolic Reformation” [NAR], ecumenism and related issues impacting the church.  The emerging/ contemplative infection is spreading rapidly and devouring denominations and independent churches as well. There is a very real danger in the occultic practices of contemplative prayer now being brought into evangelical churches, seminaries, church schools and bookstores, camouflaged under various guises.

Other dangerous currents of false teachings – stemming from elevating experiential Christianity above God’s Word – And the conversion of churches from biblical teaching and evangelism into “purpose-driven” social justice outreaches – These all appear to now be joining into one stream of end-time apostasy.

Contemplative prayer and similar so-called “spiritual disciplines” have come from ecumenical “inter-faith” exchanges between practitioners of eastern occultic meditative traditions and Catholic mystics. It should not be surprising that it’s practice acclimates the individual towards these spiritual views.

Contemplative prayer is one of the most dangerous practices ever to enter the church. The occultic influence of contemplative “prayer”  is devastating the hearts and minds of Christians, causing many to fall away  – infusing them with a New Age panenthistic and ecumenical worldview. Meanwhile, Christians are being diverted into joining with the world in various social outreaches –  instead of sharing the Gospel, which alone can save souls.

By the grace of God, Emergent Watch will continue to expose the lies and sound the alarm. Let us “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them!” – Ephesians 5:10-11

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons…” – 1 Timothy 4:1

“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie!” – 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11

“Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober… Test all things and hold fast what is good!” – 1 Thessalonians 5:6&21

Just trying to get some background on you. Prior Calvary?
My belief is there is no such thing as too much discernment. Too little can be fatal.

    1. Yea Scott, I was pretty much raised a New Age hippie. I practiced yoga, mantras, etc. and had the “it’s all good” mentality. I’m so glad The Lord, through his Word and His Spirit pulled me out and showed me the truth. Forever grateful to Christ Jesus and His finished Work on the Cross!

    1. OK Mick: Contemplative prayer was developed by Catholic monks in ecumenical fraternization with Buddhist & Hindu monks. The “Christianized” versions are nothing more than repackaged Eastern OCCULTIC meditation. It is an attempt to divine the “voice of God” apart from genuine biblical revelation. As such, it is factually a type of DIVINATION, which is completely forbidden in the bible, because it is engagement with seducing, deceiving spirits. These demonic spirits will eagerly masquerade as the “voice of God”, or whatever is necessary to deceive and ultimately destroy.
      > The fact that you had to ask this question, leads me to question whether you know God’s Word – The Bible, and whether you know The True Christ Jesus of scripture personally. If you don’t – I beg you to consider what God says in the bible about His sacrifice for our sin – about His Savior Jesus Christ! For more info on contemplative prayer, see:

    Hi brother Mark,

What are your thoughts on Jimmy Evans with Tipping Point? I hadn’t been listening to him for long, but thought he seemed pretty solid, until he featured NAR “prophet” Chuck Pierce on a YouTube video. He said Chuck was a good friend and had been a featured speaker at his church several times. I spoke up in the comment section about my concerns. I’d never heard of Chuck Pierce before, but I immediately discerned he was way off. My spirit was groaning within me as I listened to this false prophet. And his “prophecy” was very strange and convoluted. Thank you for your much needed ministry. God bless.

    1. Evans has been partners with Word-faith (false) teacher Robert Morris from way back. Evans seems to be capitalizing on end-time sensationalism, alongside Mark Hitchcock, Tom Horn, Johnathan Cahn, etc. His “interview” with NAR false apostle Chuck Pierce reveals an astonishing lack of discernment and care for his followers. How many who follow Evans have been drawn away to follow Pierce?
